Vein Therapy

As the body ages, veins often become weak or damaged. They may twist, causing portions to swell and protrude from the skin. This condition is called varicose veins, and it’s both unsightly and uncomfortable.

Meanwhile, thinning skin allows damaged veins to become more noticeable. These “spider veins” may look red, blue, or purple. They can be treated just like varicose veins, and you can also use collagen-promoting treatments to restore your skin’s volume and tone.

We offer vein therapy to directly treat your varicose and spider veins. These minimally invasive treatments can permanently remove problem veins and help you feel more confident.

Sclerotherapy

The most common method of vein therapy is sclerotherapy. In this procedure, we inject a medication directly into the problem vein. This seals off the vein and redirects the blood elsewhere. Within a few weeks, the vein will fade away.

Frequently asked questions about sclerotherapy

The procedure permanently closes the damaged vein, so it will eventually become scar tissue. Be sure to rest after your procedure to avoid reopening the vein before it heals.

Most of the skin resurfacing treatments offered here at North Florida Aesthetics require little to no downtime. Your skin may be sensitive to the sun after some procedures, so be sure to wear sunscreen and avoid prolonged exposure. You will be given any other aftercare instructions as needed. Certain chemical peels require a few days of recovery to allow the skin to heal.

All resurfacing treatments can provide you with smoother, brighter, more youthful skin. Maintenance sessions may be recommended to prolong your results

Some patients experience bruising or see new veins appear around the injection site. This is a common side effect, but any visible veins or bruises should fade over time. The varicose or spider vein will not return.
